SP SD45 page: Locomotives painted into the "Kodachrome" scheme
SP Kodachrome painted SD45's:
The attempted merger of the SP and Santa Fe railroads brought the proposed red and yellow SPSF "Kodachrome" paint scheme applied to various locomotives (and a few cabooses) of each railroad in anticipation of the approval of the merger. That, of course, did not happen. There were 19 SP SD45's, both rebuilt (17) and unrebuilt (2) units, so painted.
