Locomotives NOT GRIP'd:

The SP's General Rehbilitation and Improvement Program (GRIP) for the GP20 model began in 1974 and ran throughout the decade with the last locomotive emerging in 1979. Not all examples of the GP20 made it through the program, however. Some locomotives were lost prior to its beginning. However, all 58 SP and Cotton Belt units were lucky enough to make it to the 1965 system renumbering. A total of 12 GP20's (all SP, as all of the SSW GP20's were rebuilt) were NOT rebuilt as part of the GRIP program. They are listed as follows:
