This loco was built in 8/1960 with EMD demonstrator unit EMD 5626 with serial number 26108. She toured various railroads around the country including the SP. She was sold to the SP on 2/6/1962 along with the other three demonstrator units. She was repainted into standard for the time bloody nose colors and featured a full 5 light headlight arrangement on each end. She featured a winterization hatch which was retained by the SP after purchase.

She was assigned number SP 4085 in the 1965 system renumbering.

She was never rebuilt as part of the GRIP program.
