SP SD45T-2 page: Locomotives painted into the "Kodachrome" scheme

SP Kodachrome painted SD45T-2's:

The attempted merger of the SP and Santa Fe railroads brought the proposed red and yellow SPSF "Kodachrome" paint scheme applied to various locomotives (and a few cabooses) of each railroad in anticipation of the approval of the merger. That, of course, did not happen. There were 18 SP SD45T-2's, both rebuilt (4) and unrebuilt (14) units, so painted. Two units, SP 9500-9501, were quickly renumbered into an SPSF number series as SP 6767-6768. Six of the fourteen unrebuilt units that were given the kodachrome scheme were later run through the GRIP program, but emerged in standard grey and red SP paint.
