Engineered Carbons, Inc. seems to have been a company that produced carbon black in southeast Texas. I have had a difficult time locating corporate info on the internet. They don't seem to have a web site. Unlike their affiliate partner, Degussa, they don't seem to have operations outside of North America, the location of the 50/50 joint venture. If anyone can correct this, I would gladly place a link to ECI. Degussa Corp. and Engineered Carbons Inc. have merged their North American carbon black manufacturing facilities as of January 1, 2002 to form a new company called Degussa Engineered Carbons LP. Plants in the venture are located in Aransas Pass, Baytown, Borger and Orange, Texas; Ivanhoe, Louisiana and Belpaire, Ohio. It is not certain which plants came from Degussa and which ones came from ECI, however, the Ivanhoe, LA plant was a Degussa plant (previously Ashland and United) and the Borger, TX plant is presumabley formerly ECI since they are listed as having been headquartered there.

It seems that a majority of the cars operated by ECI were acquired second hand from JM Huber at some point after 1986 when JM Huber and Sid Richardson split the remaining Phillips cars.
