These 36'-6" single deck stock cars were built by the Ralston Steel Car Company in 1924 and featured 2596 ft3 capacity.

Some cars from this class were rebuilt as double deck cars as the April 1963 ORER list 4 cars as double deck at 2535 ft3 capacity as well as 37 single deck cars at 2596 ft3.

In the late 1950s 500 cars from this class as well as S-40-8 were transferred to T&NO 15500-15749 and 16000-16249.
