H&TC 40700-40799					(to GH&SA 41450-41490; to T&NO 41450-41490)

These 40'-4" drop-bottom, steel gondolas were built by Bettendorf in 2-3/1913. They featured 1705/1490 ft3 capacity.

In 1921, thirty-nine of thesecars were transferred from the H&TC to the GH&SA as their 41450-41490. They retained these numbers when re-stenciled as T&NO cars in the 1930's. Only eight of the original 100 cars survived to 1945 and thus were not incluced in the system re-numbering program of the mid-1950's and early 1960's. These cars were particularly camerashy as not even Tony Thompson was able to locate a photo of one for his book SouthernPacific Freight Cars Vol I.
