F-70-80 Flat Cars:
SP 516273-516312 40 PC&F racks applied 1977 SP 516613-516772 160 PC&F racks applied 9=10-77 SP 516773-516972 200 Portec racks applied 1-78 (to UP 900500-900*** cut down for panel track service)
This is a mixed group of 400 cars. The 89'-4" flats appear to have been built new as wide-body, low-level, bowl-deck cars by AC&F 4=8/1977. PC&F enclosed tri-level autoracks were applied to part of the order (e.g. 516675, 516686, 516689, 516726, 516754, 516755), while Portec enclosed tri-levels were applied to other cars (e.g. 516849, 516879, 516893). All cars had mesh doors originally, but they were later rebuilt with steel clamshell doors. Some cars were also reconfigured as bi-levels for minivan and SUV service (e.g. 516686, 516726, 516754).

After the merger of the SP into the UP, the UP cut down some of these auto racks and set them up for rail panel service placing them in the UP 9005** series.
