F-70-65A Flat Cars
A roster of the F-70-65A class flat cars is provided as follows:
SP 517300-517363 blt 5/1973 (re #'d to SP 516100-516162) SSW 80350-80419 blt 6/1973 (re #'d to SSW 80849-80916)
These cars were built in 1973 by PS (lots 9606, 9607) as low-deck flats and featured 89'-4" loading platforms. They were originally equipped with STAC-PAC containers for transporting high end GM automobiles. They were rebuilt as wide-body flats and the STAC-PAC containers were removed in 1976 and Portec, enclosed tri-level racks were installed. The STAC-PAC containers can still be seen throughout the former SP at various yards being used as storage sheds.
