F-70-28 Flat Cars

A roster of the F-70-28 class flat cars is provided as follows:

	SP 515000-515024	P-3209	1964	tri-level auto racks	
	SP 515025-515049	P-3209	1964	bi-level auto racks
	
	SP 515100-515149	P-3233	1965	tri-level auto racks

These 89'-0" flat cars were built as above by AC&F and featured Freight Master car cushioning and Uarco handbrakes. Some of these cars had their racks removed and were renumbered by changing their third digit from a "5" to a "9." Specific cars were SP 519112 & 519132.

Also, Jim Eager relates that the 10/1967 ORER lists 12 of cars in SP 515000-515049 series as having "protective screen panels" which is apparently a very early application of these panels to deal with the problem of vandalism in transit to automobiles.
