B-70-45 Box Cars

A roster of the B-70-45 class box cars is provided as follows:

	SP 618000

This 86'-?" car was the prototype Vert-a-Pac car. The superstructure was built by SP at Sacremento and installed on an existing F-70-48 low deck flat car for concept evaluation. It has been confirmed through discussions with Steve Peery of SP that this car did not haul revenue autos. It was setup for Opals and would have required modification to haul the production Vegas. It was used for evaluation purposes only. The flat car chosen for the prototype was an existing auto rack for which the rack had been damaged, but the flat car had not. The rack was removed and scrapped. It is presumed that the flat was placed back into service following the removal of the prototype superstructure, however, this is only supposition.
