A roster of the B-50-40 class box cars is provided as follows:

	SP 219206-219505	7-9/1957	P-3109
	SP 683522-683821	12/1956-2/1957			auto loaders (permanent numbers SP 219506-219805)

These 50'-6" box cars were built by SP Equipment Co. in 1956-57 as above and featured 4980/4567 ft3 capacity and double sliding doors for a 15'-4" door opening. As with the B-50-38 class, it is assumed that the 300 loader-equipped cars of this class were constructed with their assigned-service numbers in the 683xxx series and later renumbered into their general-service 212xxx series numbers, but this is only conjecture at this time. More research is needed!
