B-50-27 Box Cars

A roster of the B-50-27 class box cars is provided as follows:

	SP 100000-102099
	T&NO 58500-59749 (re #'d to SP 128700-129914)

These 40'-6" box cars were built by PS (lot 5924) in 10/1948-3/1949 and featured 3715 ft3 capacity, a 6'-0" door opening, 3/4 improved Dreadnought ends, 10 panel sides and ASF A-3 trucks.

It seems that at least one of these cars (SP 100752) has escaped the scrapper's torch for a well deserved retirement with the Pacific Locomotive Association near Sunol, CA. Thanks to Gilbert Leibfritz for the heads up on this classic SP box car's preservation.

For more information on these cars, see the February and March 1993 issues of Railroad Model Craftsman magazine for an in depth article by Tony Thompson. Also, see the Spring 2000 (No. 63) issue of the SPH&TS publication Trainline for a review by Tony Thompson of Sunshine kits for the B-50-27 and -28 classes.
