SP SD45T-2 page: Wreck Rebuild SP 9220 to SP 9314
One of SP's SD45T-2 units was wrecked early in her career, rebuilt and given a new number. This unit was SP 9220. She was involved in a wreck with Amtrak near Tuscon, AZ on 01/05/1973 (less than a year after being built in 04/1972,) rebuilt by SP at Sacramento Shops and returned to duty on 06/25/1974 as SP 9314. She retained her as-built EMD construction number of 72601-12.
