SP 5720-5722
These units were built in 2/1956 with serial numbers 81456-81458 and as ALCO RS11 demonstrator units DL701, DL701A and DL701B respectively. They were dual service freight and passenger engines equipped with boiler controls (DL701 & DL701A) and boiler (DL701B.) All three units were built with ATS (Automatic Train Stop.) They toured the country demonstrating ALCO's new 1500 hp road switcher. All three locomotives were setup to operate long hood forward. They were purchased by the SP on 05/29/1956.
