SP Brake Sled page
This page is dedicated to SP's only ex FM H-24-66 "Trainmaster" brake sled.
The SP converted retired FM Trainmaster unit SP 3027 to a brake sled in 197x for use with powered locos to provide additional braking force needed when handling long cuts of cars in the road's new West colton Hump yard in southern California. She was given road number SPMW 9100. Three additional similarly retired units were set aside for additional conversions, but the program was deemed not successful enough to continue and the conversions were suspended and the locomotives retired. The brake sled worked at West Colton yard until 19xx when it too was retired and presumed scrapped.
