PS 5277 ft3 50' Box Cars

While this size car is heavily associated with the Southern Railway due to the large number of cars purchased by that road, they were also rostered by a number of other roads and private fleets such as SCL, L&N, CI&M, CRR, DM, GA, ITC and RBOX.

Several other capacity cars such as the 5207 ft3 and 5344 ft3 cars are basically the same as these cars externally differing in such details as presence or absence of loaders and roof design both of which added or subtracted from the usable capacity of the car.
