Only one order of this design was purchased, by PH&D. Owing to the closeness of capacity to the PS 5277 ft3 cars, it is likely that these cars hold some sort of relationship to that design. It is also possible that they are a derivative of the 5344 ft3 design, as they purchased 60 additional cars of that capacity on the same lot.
