Pullman Standard was well known for their standard sized covered hopper cars of a variety of sizes. The 4000 ft3 3-bay covered hopper was produced for only a few years in the early 1960's and a revised design for a few years in the 1970's and in far fewer numbers than the vastly more numerous 4740 ft3 and 4750 ft3 designs. However, they remain a popular car amoung modelers.
