These 40' box cars were built by PS (Lot 8160B) in 2/1954. They featured 8' wide doors, 3903 ft3 capacity and were painted orange with black ends and a large silver feather spanning car's side with the wording "Shock Protected Freight" in black.

The March-April 1984 issue of Prototype Modeler magazine pages 35-38 features an article by John Ryczkowski on "Western Pacific Feather Boxcars".
