These 2-bay, 70 ton, covered hopper cars were built by PS (lot 8394) in 11/1957 as PS-2's. They featured 2003 ft3 capacity. These cars had their capacity increased to 2637 ft3 by raising their sides. Their load limit was increased to 100 tons at rebuild as well. Unlike other similar rebuilding programs by the Southern, these retained their as-built numbers. The work was done at some time between 1957 and 1965.
