Savannah & Atlanta 4-6-2 750

Steam locomotive S&A 750 only pulled one set of excursions into New Orleans, the 1983 trips in the company of two green Southern FP7 locomotives. This was the first year that diesel assist was used for steam. The previous year, a pair of Southern FP7's (one the same, one different) had pulled the trips with no steam locomotive. This trend brought distaste to the ridership who was there for the steam and could care less about diesels.

The S&A 750 was built as a Florida East Coast locomotive and was sold during her career to the S&A itself a future subsidiary of the Southern, hence the family connection. She was used for many trips double headed with either the 4501 or one of the consolodations. After the end of the Southern steam program, she ended up on the New Georgia Railroad in Atlanta along with newly restored A&WP 290.
