PE 5500-5599 (re #'d to SP 52600-52698)
These 36' dump gondolas were built by National Dump Car in 1910 for the Pacific Electric and assigned to class W-50-0. They featured Caswell door-operating mechanisms, Hercules trucks and xxxx ft3 capacity. In 1940, the surviving cars were transferred to the SP and given numbers as above. A PE freight car diagram is pictured on page 36 of Southern Pacific Freight Cars, Vol I. In 1940, the surviving cars were transferred to the SP as above.
