H-100-21 Hopper Cars
A roster of the H-100-21 class hopper cars is provided as follows:
SSW 77900-77999 Golden West numbers: KCS 521000-521001 (relettered for GVSR in 1991) CRLE 521002 KCS 521003-521004 (relettered for GVSR in 1991) CRLE 521005-521017 CRLE 521023-521079 (odd only)
These 3-bay, 100 ton covered hopper cars were built by Pullman Standard (lot 9279) in 10=11/1967. All cars featured 4785 ft3 capacity and three elongated hatches. These were among the few PS 4785 ft3 cars that did not have continuous hatches. Some of these cars were rebuilt and sold to the KCS as part of the Golden West Service program and leased by the SP. They were quickly re-stenciled for the Galveston Railroad as the GVSR 521000 series and some were re-lettered back to their SSW initials and numbers after their leases expired after the UP/SP assimilation (see below.)
