H-100-9 Hopper Cars:
SP 493000-493199 PS (Lot 8775) 1/1963 SP order # P-3162 SP 493200-493399 PS (Lot 8790) 3/1963 SP order # P-3167 SP 493400 PS (Lot 8895) 1963? SSW 79100-79199 PS (Lot 8775A) 2/1963 SSW 79200-79299 PS (Lot 8790A) 4-5/1963
These 3-bay, 100-ton covered hopper cars were built by Pullman Standard as above. They featured 3920 ft3 capacity.
They were rather unusual on the SP among the vastly more numerous AC&F Center Flow design cars. Many of these cars were rebuilt as H-100-9R's.
I am still trying to determine if there is any significance to the single car of Lot 8895, SP 493400.
