H-50-10 Hopper Cars

A roster of the H-50-10 class hopper cars is provided as follows:

	SP 402300-402312	(ex ????)

These cars were all acquired by the SP in mid 1963 second hand. All were of 41'-0" length and 3050 ft3 capacity. Not a lot is known about these cars except for a few photos that were located by Tony Thompson that are sure to appear in his upcoming SP Freight Cars Vol IV: Hopper and Tank Cars. The cars are known to have been assigned to this class based on it being stenciled on the side of the car. They were black with 10 roof hatches and had two regular hopper discharge outlets and large Southern Pacific lettering in white. They were stenciled as being in "rice and feed service." Hopefully, Tony can untangle the mystery of their origin.
