B-70-43 Box Cars:
SP 227700-228199 Golden West numbers: VCY 143000-143047 (upgraded to 100 tons capy; B-100-43)
These 50'-7" box cars were built by FMC-GBEC (Lot 16225) in 1-3/1969. They featured 2x8' Youngstown plug doors, Hydra Cushion underframes and 6089 ft3 capacity. Many of these cars were later rebuilt as B-70-43R class cars.
When these cars went through the Golden West Service rebuild program, they were upgraded to 100-ton capacity, thus were assigned to class B-100-43. Note that this is a GWS class only as there was already an SP class B-100-43 which were completely different cars.
