This loco was built in 06/1954 with EMD construction number 19647.

She was assigned number SP 1178 in the 1965 system renumbering.

She was rebuilt as part of the GRIP program at Houston shops on 09/20/1974 and assigned number SP 1192.

She was the only one of the SW900's repainted into the proposed SPSF "Kodachrome" paint scheme. It is not known if she was ever repainted into the bloody nose scheme after the denial of the SPSF merger.
