SP SW7/9/1200 page
The SP owned three similar model EMD cab-end switchers, the SW7, SW9 and the SW1200. They were all 1200 hp locomotives but differed somewhat in mostly internal ways. The external ways differed not from base model variations, but in options that were chosen at various times throughout the purchasing of these units. Also, SW9's were bought for SSW and T&NO, but not SP proper while SW1200's were bought for all three roads. The SW7 model was bough new only by SSW, but these four units would be rebuilt and relettered as SP units.
