This loco was built in 1/1955 with EMD serial number 20225. She was built as a reserve passenger engine with steam generator. She was painted in standard for the time "black widow" colors and featured a full 5 light headlight arrangement on each end.
She was assigned number SP 3852 in the 1965 system renumbering.
She entered the GRIP program and emerged as SP 4408 on 12/19/1975.
