SP 5292:
This loco was built in 1/1953 with EMD construction number 17155. She was built as a freight engine. She was painted in standard for the "tiger stripe" colors. The SP added an ash can headlight arrangement on each end shortly after delivery.
She was assigned number SP 2713 in the 1965 system renumbering.
All of the SD7's were renumbered as a group in 1973 to make room for new MP15 switch engines. This unit was renumbered SP 1413.
She entered the GRIP program and emerged as SP 1500 in 1/26/1979.
She is one of 3 or possibly 4 SD7's (along with SP 1411, 1425 and possibly 1430) known to have had red frame stripes applied at some point reportedly by the Tuscon Division mechanical forces for unknown reasons.
