This loco was built in 6/1972 with EMD construction number 92601-44. She was built as a freight engine. She was painted in standard for the time bloody nose colors and featured a full 5 light headlight arrangement on the front end. The rear featured xxxx.

She was rebuilt and renumbered to SP 6779 as part of the SP's GRIP program on 09/30/1986.

She was rebuilt by MK-Boise in 5/1996 and began a new life as KCS 4507, now considered an SD45T-3. KCS's ex SP 4500 series units were renumbered to the KCS 7200's at some point. This unit thus was KCS 7207 later in life.
