SP 9044
This loco was built in 3/1969 with EMD construction number 7138-51.
She was one of twelve SP SD45's to receive air intake shrouds nicknamed "elephant ears." On this unit, they were of the angled type applied by SP. They were removed around 1974 after the arrival of the SD45T-2's.
She was rebuilt and renumbered to SP 7485 as part of the SP's GRIP program on 11/xx/1983. The most visible external change was the addition of a full set of Gyralight to the rear of the unit.
