This loco was built in 5/1968 with EMD construction number 7083-2.

She was rebuilt and renumbered to SP 7319 as part of the SP's GRIP program on 09/09/1980. The most visible external change was the addition of a full set of Gyralight to the rear of the unit.

She was repainted into "kodachrome" colors as part of the attempted SPSF merger several years after having been rebuilt.

She was repainted back into bloody nose colors at some point, but the paint peeled revealing the underlying tan prime giving her the appearance of military camoflage which earned her the nickname "SP's Desert Storm" unit.
