This loco was built in 3/1965 with EMD construction number 29855. It was built as a freight engine. It was painted in standard for the time bloody nose colors and featured a full 5 light headlight arrangement on the front end. The rear featured a dual sealed beam light only.
She was assigned number SP 6925 in the 1965 system renumbering.
She entered the GRIP program and emerged as SP 4706 in 2/2/1978. She was stripped of her turbocharger, and received a full 5-light rear gyralight package.
She was renumbered to SP 2967 on 12/28/1979 and assigned to work the Englewood hump yard in Houston, TX.
