This loco was built in 6/1944 with ALCO-GE construction number 72703.
She was ordered as (first) SP 1385, but renumbered as T&NO 38 at ALCO prior to delivery. Another locomotive became (second) SP 1385 (Baldwin VO-1000 70881.)
She was assigned number SP 1726 in the 1965 renumbering.
