SP 501
This loco was built in 8/1994 with MK construction number 3092-1. She was built as a freight engine. She was painted in standard for the time bloody nose colors with SP speed lettering and a North American cab. Her headlight arrangement was a single sealed beam headlight each end and ditch lights along the front anticlimber only. She operated on the SP for about a year for evaluation purposes, but was never owned by the SP.
She was returned to MK after evaulation by the SP and sold to the UTAH Railway as their UTAH 5001. While there she was rebuilt with an EMD prime mover and main alternator and rebranded as an MK50-3.
She left UTAH Railway in March or April 2017 to operate on the Kyle Railroad.
