T&NO 455

Bob Dengler photo - Roseville, CA - September 1974

This loco was built in 2/1959 with EMD serial number 25151. She was built as a freight engine. She was painted in newly standard grey and red or "bloody nose" colors and featured a single dual sealed beam headlight on each end.

She was assigned number SP 3659 in the 1965 system renumbering.

She entered the GRIP program and emerged as SP 3822 in 11/1975. At some point after rebuild, she was fitted with a Gyralight. Photos show her in her GRIP number with an unaltered headlight arrangement as late as 1979. However, other later pics indicate evidence of a lowered sealed beam headlight and a plate where a Gyralight was once mounted.
