This loco was built in 12/1956 with EMD builder's number 22900. It was built as a freight engine. It was painted in standard for the time black widow colors and featured a single dual sealed beam headlight on each end.

She was assigned number SP 3568 in the 1965 system renumbering.

She entered the GRIP program and emerged as SP 3771 in 12/1974.
