T&NO 443

This loco was built in 12/1956 with EMD builder's number 22897. She was built as a freight engine. She was painted in standard for the time black widow colors and featured a single dual sealed beam headlight on each end.
She was assigned number SP 3565 in the 1965 system renumbering.
She entered the GRIP program and emerged as SP 3798 in 2/1977. She is one of a small group of ex T&NO GP9's to have full gyralight packages applied at GRIP.
She was renumbered into a switcher series as SP 2873 in 1978.
Around 1985, this unit was repainted into the "Kodachrome" paint scheme.
In 1992 she was rescued from a scrap yard by members of the Feather River Rail Society in Portola, CA where she survives in operating condition.
