T&NO 282

This loco was built in 5/1954 with EMD builder's number 19484. It was built as a passenger engine with a boiler in the nose. It was setup with dual control stands for operation in either direction, thus it had wings on the front and rear. It was painted in standard for the time black widow colors and featured Pyle oscilating dish signal lights on both ends.

In November 1960, this unit and #283 left the T&NO for California.

She was renumbered as 5892 when she entered passenger service on the west coast.

She was assigned number SP 3421 in the 1965 system renumbering. She lost her steam generator in March 1962, but not her dual controls and was thus the only freight GP9 with wings on both ends.

She entered the GRIP program and emerged as SP 3352 in 5/1972. The dual controls were replaced with a more standard arrangement and the rear wings done away with.
