This loco was built in 5/1954 with EMD builder's number 19479. It was built as a dual service freight or passenger engine with boiler in the nose. It was setup with a single control stand, thus it had wings on the front high nose only. It was painted in standard for the time black widow colors and featured Pyle oscilating dish signal lights on both ends.

During the early 1960's, this unit lost its steam generator.

She was assigned number SP 3418 in the 1965 system renumbering.

She entered the GRIP program and emerged as SP 3410 (2nd) in bloody nose paint in 12/1974.
