SP 5819

This loco was built in 3/1959 with EMD construction number 25119. It was built as a freight engine. It was painted in newly adopted grey and red bloody nose scheme and featured a full 5 light headlight arrangement on each end.
She was assigned number SP 3682 in the 1965 system renumbering.
She entered the GRIP program and emerged as SP 3848 in 6/1977.
She was wrecked at Leighton, LA the day (11/01/1980) after the above photo was taken. She collided with a cane truck at the Thibodaux Bypass Road and ended up in the ditch. The accident must not have been cripling, as I saw her later on with a modified rear light arrangement, possibly from a hood from a former T&NO unit, as there was a sealed beam headlight only.
