This loco was built in 4/1957 with EMD construction number 22979. She was built as a freight engine. She was painted in standard for the time black widow colors and featured a full 5 light headlight arrangement on each end.
She was assigned number SP 3638 in the 1965 system renumbering.
She entered the GRIP program and emerged as SP 3792 in 8/1976.
Around 1985, this unit was repainted into the "Kodachrome" paint scheme.
