SP 5623

This loco was built in 4/1955 with EMD builder's number 19978. She was built as a passenger engine with a boiler in the nose. She was setup with dual control stands for operation in either direction, thus it had wings on the front and rear. She was painted in standard for the time black widow colors and featured Pyle oscilating dish signal lights on both ends and rooftop air resevoirs for increased fuel and water capacity between the trucks.
She was assigned number SP 3005 in the 1965 system renumbering.
She entered the GRIP program and emerged as SP 3189 in bloody nose paint in 4/1977.
This unit is now in private ownership and has been restored to original appearance and number in operating condition.
