SP 5603

This loco was built in 6/1954 with EMD serial number 19561. She was built as a passenger engine with a boiler in the nose. She was setup with dual control stands for operation in either direction, thus she had wings on her front and rear. She was painted in standard for the time black widow colors and featured Pyle oscilating dish signal lights and sealed beam lights on both ends.
She was assigned number SP 3003 in the 1965 system renumbering.
She entered the GRIP program and emerged as SP 3186 in bloody nose paint in 02/26/1975.
Disposition history courtesy of Steve Sloan:
"In Sept. 1995 it was retired and in Jan. 1996 it was sold to Progress Rail. In Jan. 2000 it became Western Rail (WRIX) 3186 rebuilt with a chopped nose. In 2006 it was resold to Kalama Export Co., in Kalama, WA. Current status not known."
