This loco was built in 9/1972 with EMD construction number 72704-10 as L&N 4079. It was rebuilt by AMF on July 5, 1994 and leased to SP as SP 159. It was renumbered on February 11, 1995 to SP 4854 to make room for the arrival of the AC4400 units.
