This loco was built in 9/1972 with EMD construction number 72704-9 as L&N 4078. She was rebuilt by AMF in July 1994 and leased to SP as SP 158. She was renumbered on March 30, 1995 to SP 4853 to make room for the arrival of the AC4400 units.
