SSW 776

This loco was built in 3/1965 with EMD construction number 29742. It was built as a freight engine. It was painted in standard for the time bloody nose colors and featured a full 5 light headlight arrangement on the front end. The rear featured a dual sealed beam light only.
She was assigned number SSW 6516 in the 1965 system renumbering.
She was relettered in a somewhat "unorthodox" manner with her Cotton Belt lettering replaced with Southern Pacific in a sans-serif lettering style. Several locomotives were done this way. They have been dubbed "K-Mart Specials" by railfans.
At some point, she became L&NW 54.
