This loco was built in 12/1952 with EMD construction number 17223. It was built as a 1500 hp F7 B-unit. It was painted in the SP's standard for the time black widow colors.

She was retired on 06/16/1970 and re#'d to SPMW 8210 on 10/09/1970.
